About the Role
The Operations Manager will be a pivotal leader in establishing, growing, and managing our production facility. Reporting directly to company leadership, this role will oversee day-to-day manufacturing operations, build and manage a high-performing team, and ensure efficiency, safety, and quality across all shifts. The ideal candidate has a strong background in plastic molding, experience in startup environments, and a passion for building operational excellence.
Responsibilities
- Lead and manage all aspects of daily operations, including production, staffing, safety, and quality.
- Oversee a team of approximately 76 staff (to scale as operations grow), including supervisors, technicians, warehouse staff, and quality control.
- Develop and implement strategies to maximize efficiency across 16 machines and three shifts.
- Manage and optimize the production schedule, with an initial focus on a 36-hour shift structure with 40 hours of pay.
- Collaborate with senior leadership to forecast staffing needs, including hiring and onboarding two Technical Supervisors and additional roles as required.
- Monitor and improve key performance metrics such as output, quality, and machine utilization.
- Implement best practices for safety and compliance with all relevant regulations.
- Act as a key liaison with retail partners and vendors, ensuring contract fulfillment and building strong relationships.
- Support facility expansion efforts and the potential development of additional production lines or facilities.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Operations Management, Manufacturing, Engineering, or a related field (or equivalent experience).
- Minimum of 7-10 years of leadership experience in a plastics manufacturing environment, preferably with expertise in plastic molding.
- Proven track record in scaling operations, managing production lines, and leading teams in a fast-paced environment.
- Strong knowledge of manufacturing processes, safety regulations, and quality standards.
- Excellent communication, leadership, and problem-solving skills.
- Familiarity with startup or early-stage business environments is a plus.
- Ability to work collaboratively with cross-functional teams and external partners.
